FirstRand Namibia Achieves N$2.1 Billion in Earnings

Windhoek: FirstRand Namibia announced headline earnings of N$2.1 billion for the year, with customer deposits reaching N$52.1 billion and dividends declared at N$555 million, as reported on Thursday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the bank's media release provided insights into the group's 2026 financial outcomes, including the payment of N$2 billion in interest to customers on their savings and investments. Conrad Dempsey, CEO of FirstRand Namibia, emphasized that financial results reflect both the company's performance and the progress its customers achieve, such as business growth, home purchases, entrepreneurial ventures, and future investments.

Lizette Smit, CFO of FirstRand Namibia, highlighted the significance of disciplined decision-making in achieving strong financial performance. She noted that maintaining a robust balance sheet, prudent capital management, and disciplined credit practices are key to supporting customers through varying economic conditions.

The group reported an expansion in lending to households, entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, and sectors like agriculture, tourism, mining, infrastructure, and the emerging energy sector in Namibia. Retail and Commercial Banking enhanced customer access and tailored lending, while RMB Namibia provided support to strategic sectors through financing, advisory, and risk management services. WesBank improved its asset finance offerings, and Ashburton Investments along with FNB Insurance continued to invest in specialist capabilities.

Additionally, FirstRand Namibia focused on building capacity to support the country's emerging oil and gas sector, forming partnerships aimed at financing investments and supporting local businesses within the value chain. Dempsey mentioned that opportunities shaping Namibia's future require long-term investment in people, expertise, relationships, and capability.

Looking ahead, the group plans to accelerate digital innovation, expand its customer base, support Namibia's priority growth sectors, and maintain disciplined capital and risk management strategies.
