Omuthiya: Fontein City Football Club beat Omuthiya United Football Club 4-1 on penalties in the Oshikoto Second Division Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup 2026 at Omuthiya Sports Field on Sunday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Fontein City coach Freddy Joseph expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, noting how they overcame a formidable opponent to secure the trophy. Joseph acknowledged the challenging nature of the match, especially since it was a derby, but emphasized the team's unity and determination as key factors in their victory. He added that the team would focus on correcting mistakes and improving as they aim for further success.
Omuthiya United coach Leevy Sackeus remarked on the preparedness of both teams, acknowledging the strength displayed throughout the match. Despite their loss in the penalty shootout, Sackeus congratulated Fontein City for being the better team on the day, admitting that his team made costly errors during the penalties.
Oshikoto Regional NFA Chairperson Sacky Alugodhi expressed contentment with the successful execution of the tournament. He extended his congratulations to Fontein City FC for their achievement, celebrating their emergence as champions of the second division.
