Frankfurt:Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has announced the appointment of Joti Chatzialexiou as its new sporting executive. The 50-year-old will transition from his current position at second-division club Nuremberg to succeed Markus Krosche at Frankfurt.
According to NAMPA, Chatzialexiou is set to begin his role at Eintracht Frankfurt on February 1, 2027, having signed a contract that extends until June 30, 2030. Until then, he will continue his current responsibilities at Nuremberg.
Chatzialexiou, a native of Frankfurt, included a release clause in his Nuremberg contract extension in August, specifically permitting him to join Eintracht. His contract with Nuremberg was originally scheduled to expire in 2028. Mathias Beck, president and supervisory board chairman of Frankfurt, expressed confidence in Chatzialexiou's fit for the club, citing his professional expertise and dedication to youth development.
Chatzialexiou's career at Nuremberg began in 2024 after over 20 years at the German Football Association (DFB), where he most recently managed the national teams. At Nuremberg, he appointed Miroslav Klose as head coach and significantly contributed to the team's squad development. The club is currently positioned third in the second division.
Chatzialexiou also has previous ties with Frankfurt, having coached several of the club's youth teams before his tenure at the DFB.
