Buenos Aires:Rodrigo Auzmendi's late strike helped San Lorenzo earn a 2-2 draw against Velez Sarsfield in Argentina's Clausura tournament on Saturday.

According to NAMPA, the match saw teenager Juan Policella open the scoring for Velez in the 22nd minute with a volley at the near post, assisted by Matias Pellegrini's cross from the right wing. Pellegrini then scored himself, lifting a close-range shot over San Lorenzo's goalkeeper, Jose Devecchi.

San Lorenzo responded just before halftime when Alexis Cuello received a pass from Auzmendi and fired a shot into the far corner to reduce the deficit. Auzmendi later equalized for San Lorenzo, scoring from close range after a rebound off the left post with nine minutes remaining in the match.

Auzmendi commented on the team's performance, acknowledging the early defensive lapses but expressing satisfaction with their comeback. "We slept on the job early and allowed them to score two goals," he said. "The good thing is that we were able to score at the end of the first half and that gave us confidence for the rest of the match. We almost managed to win it."

The result leaves Velez in second place in the 15-team Zone A standings with 28 points, while San Lorenzo sits in ninth place with 19 points.
