Former Katima Mulilo CEO Passes Away After Heart Illness

Windhoek: Former Katima Mulilo Town Council's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Charles Nawa Nawa has died. Nawa, aged 50, passed away on Friday morning in a Windhoek hospital after battling a heart illness for several months.According to Namibia Press Agency, Nawa's younger brother, Enerst Sitali Simbotwe Nawa, confirmed his death to Nampa on Saturday. He described the former CEO's passing as a significant loss to the family, the region, and the country. He stated, "He was a pillar of strength in our family. I seriously do not have many words to say now. All I can say is that he was present almost everywhere - in construction, in business, in politics and as a community volunteer in various services, especially as a master of ceremonies at some community gatherings in town and elsewhere, doing it free of charge."The town's former Mayor, Charles Mukaya Matengu, praised Nawa on his social media post on Friday evening for his contributions to the town's development during his tenure as CEO. Matengu highlighted several achievements, including the installation of the first traffic lights in the town, the tarring of roads, and the establishment of three satellite police stations.Nawa served as CEO from 2012 to 2016. He is survived by his wife, Inonge Sikanda - Nawa, and nine children. Funeral arrangements are currently underway, with indications that he will be laid to rest at his home village of Nkamba village in the Luhonono (Schuckmannsburg) area of the Kabbe North Constituency.
