Geingob to chair SADC Extraordinary Summit

President Hage Geingob will chair the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation Extraordinary Summit taking place in Windhoek on Tuesday.

The Presidency of the Republic of Namibia in a media release on Monday stated that Geingob in his capacity as Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation along with outgoing Chairperson, President Cyril Ramaphosa and incoming Chairperson, President Hakainde Hichilema will chair the summit.

Additionally, Heads of State and Government from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Kingdom of Eswatini, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of Mozambique are expected to attend.

The SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation is responsible for the promotion of peace and security in the SADC region.

Therefore, the summit is expected to discuss matters of peace and security in the region.

It follows the SADC Extraordinary Meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ (MCO) which was officially opened by SADC MCO Chairperson, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Monday here.
