Atlanta:A pair of Chinese giant pandas arrived in Atlanta for a 10-year stay, rekindling long-standing connections after a nearly two-year absence.According to Namibia Press Agency, the pandas, named Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, traveled smoothly on their chartered flight, where they were comfortable, sleeping and eating well, as reported by Sam Rivera, Vice President of Animal Health at Zoo Atlanta. Upon their arrival, the pandas were greeted with enthusiasm by both zoo staff and local residents eager to welcome them.Zoo Atlanta quickly adorned the premises with new posters and banners celebrating the pandas' arrival. Tanya Smith, co-owner of Ollie's Market and Deli, expressed the community's excitement by creating a chalk drawing featuring the pandas, accompanied by a "welcome" message and their Chinese names. Smith plans to offer panda-themed treats once the zoo officially introduces the pandas to the public.Amanda, a local resident, shared her excitement about the pandas' return, recalling how she first saw them at Zoo Atlanta when she was 12. Her son, who received a panda toy from her uncle, was eager to see the pandas in person. Similarly, Victoria, another local, expressed her anticipation to visit the zoo and see the pandas again, highlighting their importance as a zoo attraction.Kristen Deringer, a frequent zoo visitor, remembered seeing pandas as early as 2005 and was pleased to see them return.
