Windhoek:Takhar Afghan authorities incinerated more than 3 tons of illegal drugs in the northern province of Takhar, a provincial police spokesman, Naqibullah Masroor, announced on Wednesday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the destroyed contraband comprised 3 tons of opium, 198 kilograms of hashish, and 175 stimulant tablets known locally as "Tablet K." The burning of the narcotics was conducted publicly in the presence of local government officials and residents.
The narcotics had been confiscated during a series of operations throughout the province over the past few months. The counter-narcotics police have committed to preventing the production and trafficking of illegal drugs in the region. They have issued a warning that strict measures will be enforced against those who break the law.
