Government should make Sporting activities mandatory for students at all levels says Athlete

According to an athlete and also one of the fastest runners in Nigeria, Mr. Adeseye Ogunlewe has advised Nigeria government to make Sporting activities mandatory for students at all levels. He made the statement in an interview with Voice of Nigeria at the Royal Master’s School situated at plot 8, CIPM avenue, opposite MKO Gardens, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria, during the 14th Sports day.

According to him, “there are various ways to boost the sport sector in Nigeria, and one of such ways is to encourage schools to keep doing sports. Sporting activities should be made paramount, compoary from primary to university levels”.

Mr. Adeseye Ogunlewe, went further to explain some of the benefits of sporting activities, “it helps various parts of the body to be active at all times and can be done anywhere even on the road when walking”.

In the same vain, one of the staff of the Royal Master’s School, Miss Eunice Olatunji, also explained the important of inter house sports, “it brings unity to the school, we see parents and children competing and supporting each other.

She also advised the federal government to encourage inter state sporting activities, “there should be inter state championship and government should also give out scholarship to students that are stand out in various sports”.

According to the quality assurance officer of the Royal Master’s School, Mr. John Aderogba, stated that, inter house sports is part of learning. The school is using this medium to train the students on how to keep fits.

The peak of the event were the March past of the students, Potato sack by various houses, 100 meters race and three legged race among others.

This year’s inter house sports was the 14th annual sports day and the theme was 4:13,We Can!

The Royal Master’s School has a day and boarding school also in Ogun State Nigeria.
