Grootfontein: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a 58-year-old man at Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region on Monday morning for allegedly threatening a State prosecutor. Regional police spokesperson, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, informed Nampa that the suspect was arrested at around 06h56 after he allegedly distributed handwritten notes containing threats directed at a 40-year-old control prosecutor attached to the Grootfontein Magistrate's Court.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the paper notes warned the complainant to leave Grootfontein 'before the same incident that happened in Ondangwa happens to him.' Mbeha indicated that the notes were allegedly dropped off at various locations around town, including the Grootfontein Police Station, the Criminal Investigations Unit, and a local guesthouse.
The suspect is expected to face charges of assault by threat and conspiracy to commit murder. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
