Haitengela appointed as new ED for sports ministry

Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila has appointed Erastus Mbumba Haitengela as Executive Director of the Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service effective from 01 August 2022.

The appointment was done on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, as per Public Service Act 13 of 1995.

Haitengela, who was appointed on a fixed-term contract of five years, replaces Audrin Mathe whose tenure in the same position commenced on 02 November 2020.

The new appointee has over 10 years’ experience in the private sector and served as a deputy executive director in the Office of the Prime Minister since 2012, before being transferred to the Office of the President in 2015 in a similar position.

The prime minister simultaneously recommended the transfer of Mathe to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology for the remainder of his contract. Mathe replaces Executive Director Mbeuta Ua-Ndjarakana, who is moving to the OPM’s Cabinet Secretariat department.

Ua-Ndjarakana’s appointment commences on 01 August 2022 until he attains the retirement age of 60 in May 2023.
