Honeycomb Pro Cycling and MBM Ladies win TTT

Honeycomb Pro Cycling and Mannie’s Bike Mecca’s (MBM) ladies teams on Friday won the Team Time Trial (TTT) of the men’s and women’s category of the Tour de Windhoek at the Tony Rust Race Track.

The MBM team consisting of Vera Looser, Courtney Liebenberg, Irene Steyn, Marion Schonecke and Silke Bean completed Stage Two of the race, which was 10.5 kilometres (km) of four loops of 2.6km, in a time of 19 minutes and 43 seconds (19:43).

They were closely followed by Food Lover’s Market (FLM), who were 22 seconds behind with a time of 20:05, while Hollard_Ladies took third place with a time of 21:55.

Meanwhile, in the men’s category South African team Honeycomb Pro Cycling continued with their dominance of the Tour de Windhoek after outclassing fellow countrymen TEG Pro Cycling Team with a gap of 45 seconds to clinch first place in the TTT event.

Honeycomb Pro Cycling did the 15.6km of a 2.6km route in 22:02 minutes, while TEG Pro Cycling Team did 22:47. Third place went to a Namibian team, Megatech Elite, who did a time of 22:57.

The Honeycomb Pro Cycling Team consists of Rickardo Broxham, Marc Pritzen, Travis Barrett, Travis Barrett, Casper Kruger and Damon Fouchee, while the Namibia team cycling for Megatech Elite consists of Alex Miller, Hugo Hahn, Konny Looser (Swiss), Rinaldo Kruger and Hans du Toit.

In the team classification, Honeycomb Pro Cycling is still leading the standings with a time of 08:18:53, while the TEG Pro Cycling Team is second with a time of 08:19:42 and Megatech Elite third with a time of 08:22:53.

FLM Ladies leads the women’s classification with a time of 07:51:34, followed by MBM Ladies with 07:56:42 and Cymot Racing Team Ladies who are third in a time of 08:06:41.
