Horse mackerel TAC of 330 000 MT endorsed for 2022 fishing season

Cabinet has endorsed that the horse mackerel Total Allowable Catch (TAC) be set at 330 000 metric tonnes (MT) for the 2022 fishing season.

Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Peya Mushelenga giving an update on Tuesday of the recent Cabinet decisions said, Cabinet also endorsed that the deep-sea red crab TAC be set at 4 200 MT for the 2022 fishing season of 01 January to 31 December 2022.

Mushelenga said Cabinet authorised the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade (MIT) to commence with preparatory work to operationalise the proposed areas of cooperation in the aluminium and dates sectors and export of small stock with the United Arab Emirates.

“Cabinet took note that the Global Business Forum Africa 2021, MIT, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board and other stakeholders will continue to advance Namibia’s position to attain tangible investments and trade cooperation with other member states,” he added.

Further Cabinet has approved the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan 2021-2025 submitted by the Office of the Prime Minister and directs offices, ministries, agencies (OMAs) and all implementing institutions to incorporate and cascade relevant strategic objectives and the respective actions into their sectoral strategic annual plans for implementation.

“Cabinet endorsed the guidelines for the Public Policy Making Process in Namibia, to ensure that there are no gaps in the policy making process. The guidelines will clearly indicate all the stages of the policy making process and Cabinet directs OMAs and regional councils to follow these guidelines when developing and revising public policies,” said Mushelenga.
