Windhoek: The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Thursday presented this season's Supercopa at an event in Istanbul. The four-team tournament will see La Liga champion FC Barcelona face Atletico Madrid in the first semifinal on Feb. 2, while Copa del Rey winner Real Sociedad meets Real Madrid the following day. The final will be played on Feb. 6.

According to Namibia Press Agency, unlike recent editions, the Supercopa will be staged across three venues in Istanbul: Barcelona against Atletico at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu Stadium, the second semifinal at Besiktas's Vodafone Park, and the final at Galatasaray's Ali Sami Yen Stadium. RFEF President Rafael Louzan highlighted the capacity of these stadiums to host over 150,000 spectators in total. Istanbul has a history of hosting major football events, including the Champions League finals in 2005 and 2023, as well as the 2026 Europa League final.

The RFEF explained that Istanbul was selected from a pool of seven candidate cities. Saudi Arabia, the host since 2020 except for 2021, was unavailable this year due to its commitment to staging the AFC Asian Cup in early 2027. Louzan emphasized that the event would serve as an extraordinary occasion, contributing to Istanbul's tourism and raising its international profile.
