Hpakant: A jade mine in northern Myanmar's Kachin state collapsed on Monday night, with the number of missing individuals yet to be confirmed, as reported by a local resident to Xinhua. The collapse occurred in Hpakant township at approximately 9:30 p.m. local time. Rescue operations commenced immediately, but the vast scale of the collapse has posed significant challenges to the efforts.

According to Namibia Press Agency, around 50 people were present at the site when the incident took place. While some individuals were able to escape, the exact number of those missing remains unconfirmed. The Kachin state police have reported that no trapped persons have been located so far. Videos from the scene depict crowds using flashlights to scan the area and slopes, with a barrier lake visible below the collapse site. Some media outlets have reported that approximately 20 people are missing.
