While his opponent is highly rated on the continent, Namibia’s flyweight World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa title holder Immanuel ‘Imms’ Josef, is unperturbed by the challenge he faces in the form of Muhsin Kizota.

Hailing from Tanzania, Kizota comes to the Land of the Brave in impressive boxing form this weekend.

The local-based Josef, who has won 12 of his professional fights with four losses and a draw, will defend his title for the first time against Kizota, whose record stands at 15 fights, of which 12 are wins and three defeats.

The two will face off during Saturday’s MTC Salute Boxing Academy boxing bonanza at the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.

On the same night, Lukas Ndafoluma and Nkululeko Mhlongo from South Africa will square off in the main event.

Josef’s opponent is only expected to be in Namibia on Thursday.

An upbeat Josef told Nampa during an interview on Wednesday they will do their face-off during the weigh-in event on Friday.

“That’s when I will get time to know my opponent physically. At the moment I am not worried by Kizota’s record. I have studied his boxing style via his boxing clips and I have noticed that he is a southpaw boxer,” Josef said.

He added that he is not underestimating his opponent’s capabilities.

“I want to be in the ring with the best boxers to prove my superiority. I am focused and I want to defend this title as many times as I can before I became a world champion,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Salute Boxing Academy boss Kiriat Kamanya said the event will be the last bonanza for the year 2021.

He said it is up to his boxers to leave their hard work over the difficult boxing calendar year in the ring, saying “the boxers must deliver what they are made of”.

“We stood on our promises of building champions where winning is the goal and we will bounce back stronger next year to challenge other titles. We also thank our main sponsor MTC for always believing in our stable,” Kamanya stated.
