Katima Murder Suspect Hands Himself Over to Police

Katima mulilo: The man who allegedly stabbed his wife to death in the Chotto informal settlement of Katima Mulilo on Sunday has handed himself over to the police. The Namibian Police Force's spokesperson for the Zambezi Region, Chief Inspector Kisco Sitali, informed that the 44-year-old male suspect surrendered to the authorities at the Katima Mulilo Police Station early on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the suspect is facing a murder charge read with domestic violence and is expected to appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate's Court within 48 hours. The man allegedly stabbed his 33-year-old wife multiple times. It was earlier reported by the police that neighbors heard the deceased screaming for help and attempted to rescue her, only to find the house locked from the inside. Peering through the window, they allegedly saw the suspect holding a knife.

Shortly afterward, the suspect exited the house, instructed the neighbors to call the police, and walked away, stating he was done with what he was doing. The neighbors promptly contacted the police for assistance. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman in a pool of blood and unconscious. She was transported to the hospital, where a doctor declared her dead.

The woman's next of kin have been informed, and police investigations are ongoing.
