Windhoek: Okakarara Mayor Sigfried Tjehiua on Thursday announced the departure of the town council's chief executive officer (CEO), Ernst Katjiku, after serving the council for 15 years.According to Namibia Press Agency, Tjehiua stated in an interview that Katjiku's last working day was 31 August 2026, following the expiration of his contract. In the interim, the town council's economic development manager, Helga Humbu, will serve as acting CEO until a new CEO is appointed.Tjehiua explained that the council has resolved to bring in someone from the City of Windhoek to act in the CEO position through their twinning agreement. This arrangement allows Humbu to focus on her key and strategic duties without any interference.Under the twinning agreement, the City of Windhoek assists Okakarara administratively. This partnership aims to help Okakarara achieve its objectives more efficiently, Tjehiua noted.The vacant CEO position has been advertised, attracting 20 applications. The next steps in the recruitmen t process will involve shortlisting candidates and conducting interviews.
