Windhoek: The Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Moses //Khumub, visited the Bravo resettlement farm in the Kavango West Region, emphasizing the need for grassroots-driven development and youth employment in local projects. He stressed the importance of aligning state interventions with community-identified priorities, focusing on education and agriculture as key areas for immediate action. //Khumub also advocated for the integration of San languages and the creation of pathways for teachers, nurses, legal practitioners, and agricultural experts from within the community.According to Namibia Press Agency, //Khumub underscored that agriculture and youth empowerment on resettlement farms are essential. He addressed community requests for a local clinic by urging them to engage with traditional authorities and councillors, further involving the Local Development Planning, regional council, and Ministry of Land Reform in the process.During his visit, //Khumub presented a wheelchair to Joseph Abaseb, a 41-year-old resident of Farm Huigub in the Mpungu Constituency. The Office of the Vice President noted that this donation came after //Khumub observed Abaseb's mobility challenges, particularly during work. The deputy minister emphasized the significance of mobility for dignity and work, committing to act upon clear community needs.Abaseb, who was born with a disability attributed to polio, shared his personal story, urging mothers in remote areas to ensure vaccinations to prevent similar conditions. He expressed gratitude for the wheelchair, which alleviates his longstanding struggle with mobility.The donation package also included baby blankets for three mothers and towels for ten women in the community. Mpungu Constituency Councillor Titus Shiundifonya expressed gratitude for the Office of the Vice President's support and called for continuous assistance. Community members voiced concerns regarding clinic access, electricity shortages, limited network availability, and insufficient youth empl oyment opportunities. Shiundifonya highlighted progress in the area since 2015, including the establishment of a tower, electricity provision, and hostel construction.
