Katima mulilo: National Democratic Party (NDP) president, Martin Lukato Lukato, has praised Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa's decision to dissolve the Katima Mulilo Town Council, describing the town as lacking development.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Lukato, in a recent interview, stated that the town council performed better under the previous Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) administration. He expressed concerns about the current state of affairs, highlighting issues such as high water and electricity costs, the absence of a mall, and poor road conditions.

Lukato drew a comparison between Katima Mulilo and Rundu, noting that the latter is in a better developmental position. He commended Minister Sankwasa for being diligent in identifying corruption and irregularities in Katima Mulilo.

The minister had officially handed over letters last Wednesday, removing the town councillors from office due to governance failures and ignored directives. Sankwasa's actions were met with approval at a community meeting, where residents expressed their support and questioned why the intervention had not happened sooner, emphasizing the region's need for effective leadership.
