Beijing: Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.51 percent to 3,883.56 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also saw an increase, closing 2.26 percent higher at 12,441.07 points.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices stood at 3.14 trillion yuan (about 441.25 billion U.S. dollars), which is an increase from 2.55 trillion yuan on the previous trading day. Stocks related to non-ferrous metal and brewing industries were the primary contributors to the gains, while stocks associated with ceramics and motorbikes experienced significant losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3 percent to close at 2,762.99 points on Monday.
