Magnitude Estimate of Earthquake in Tajikistan Downgrades to 5.9 Seismologists

Khujand: The magnitude of the earthquake in Tajikistan has been revised to 5.9, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) on Sunday. The seismic event took place at 4:24 GMT, located more than 170 kilometers southeast of Khujand, which has a population exceeding 198,000. The earthquake's epicenter was determined to be at a depth of 16 kilometers.

According to Namibia Press Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or damage following the earthquake. The seismic activity in Tajikistan follows earlier earthquakes of magnitudes 5.5 and 5.7, which were recorded in central Myanmar and off the coast of Papua New Guinea, respectively.
