A 26-year-old woman died instantly Monday morning after she was allegedly stabbed in the chest by her boyfriend at a bar in Grootfontein.

The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Otjozondjupa Region, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas in an interview with Nampa on Monday said the deceased was identified as Elizabeth Manga Mutwamezi.

“She was stabbed once in the left side of her chest with a knife and died on the spot,” said Andreas.

The deceased and the 29-year-old suspect allegedly had an argument before she was stabbed, said the senior police officer.

The suspect allegedly also attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the chest with the same knife, but he survived.

He has been admitted to the Grootfontein State Hospital under police guard and is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court once he is discharged from the hospital.

Police investigations continue.
