Mururani: A 63-year-old man was arrested at the Mururani checkpoint in the Kavango West Region on Sunday after he was allegedly found in possession of a dry crocodile skin.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Deputy Commissioner Elsavador Ndeunyema of the Namibian Police Force in Kavango West stated that the incident occurred around 10h00 during a routine stop and search conducted by Ministry of Environment officials. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of contravening the Controlled Wildlife Products Act.
In a separate incident, the police reported the arrest of a 41-year-old man in connection with a break-in at a bar in Ncuncuni village on Sunday. Ndeunyema mentioned that the incident occurred around 03h00 when the suspect and an accomplice allegedly damaged the burglar bars on a window to gain entry into the bar. Although the two suspects were allegedly caught in the act inside the bar, one managed to escape. Various items valued at N.dollars 9 699 were recovered by the police.
