Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend in Keetmanshoop

Keetmanshoop:A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Keetmanshoop following the alleged murder of his girlfriend during an argument on Saturday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident was reported in the weekend serious crime and incident report by Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi. It took place on Saturday morning at a house in the Ileni location.

The report details that the suspect and his 39-year-old girlfriend, Wilhelmina Waterboer, were involved in an argument that allegedly turned physical. Waterboer was declared dead at the scene by ambulance personnel, with no visible injuries found on her body, leading to suspicions of internal injuries.

The suspect, in addition to being arrested, was allegedly found with a packet of cannabis. He is scheduled to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court on Monday. Investigations into the case are ongoing, as stated by Shikwambi.

Meanwhile, in Grootfontein at Omulunga, armed robbers reportedly stormed the Eyambeko Trading Bar on Friday night. They allegedly stole approximately N$16,000 and a cellphone after assaulting a security guard and compelling a bar attendant to open a safe. Police said three men, including one allegedly armed with a pistol, joined a suspect who had been at the bar earlier. No arrests had been made by Sunday, though a cellphone and three backpacks were recovered near the scene.

In another incident in Ndama, Kavango East Region, a 36-year-old man was allegedly stabbed multiple times by two men. A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested, while another suspect remains at large. The victim is in serious condition at Rundu State Hospital.

Additionally, a one-year-old child tragically died at Ombugu village in the Tsandi Constituency after being run over by a Toyota pickup. This occurred as the driver was leaving a residential yard.

In Oshakati, two women were detained for allegedly selling elephant ivory products without valid permits. Police also reported a fatal pedestrian collision near Omuthiya and the discovery of an unidentified man's body in Otjiwarongo.
