Ohongo: A 47-year-old man has been taken into custody for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter multiple times over a period spanning from July 2025 to January 2026. The series of alleged assaults took place in Ohongo village, located in the Etayi Constituency.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force's Regional Commander for Omusati, Commissioner Ismael Basson, reported that the suspect coerced his daughter into bringing food to his room. He then allegedly threatened her with physical harm before committing the acts of rape. The suspect faces charges under the Combatting of Rape Act, in conjunction with the Domestic Violence Act.
In a different incident, another arrest was made involving a 27-year-old man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl at Okanya village within the Omusati Region. This incident reportedly occurred on a Tuesday, and the suspect is scheduled to appear in court on the following Monday. Investigations by the police are currently underway.
Meanwhile, the discovery of the body of Tomas Mekondjo Kahuki, aged 31, has raised further concerns within the community. Kahuki was found hanging from a tree in a crop field at Onandjaba village. Reports indicate that he was last seen on the preceding Monday afternoon, and his family has been notified. No suicide note was discovered at the scene.
