Mariental Police Confiscate Skunk Cannabis and Mandrax in Separate Incidents

Mariental: The police in Mariental seized skunk cannabis and mandrax tablets in two separate incidents on Thursday, leading to the arrest of one suspect, while another remains at large.

According to Namibia Press Agency, in the first incident, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Sub-Division acted on information and conducted an operation at a business in Mariental. A man who arrived to collect a parcel was requested to hand it over for inspection. Upon smelling suspected cannabis, NamPol officers opened the parcel in the presence of the suspect and discovered skunk cannabis wrapped in plastic.

The drugs weighed 605 grams and are valued at N.dollars 30 250. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of dealing in dependence-producing drugs.

In a separate incident on the same day, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit were on patrol near a supermarket in Mariental when they spotted a suspected drug dealer. Upon noticing the police, the suspect fled the scene.

The abandoned items were taken to the police station, where officers found 426 grams of skunk cannabis and 98 full mandrax tablets wrapped in plastic. The drugs have an estimated street value of N.dollars 33 010. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
