Man Arrested in Connection with Murder at Gobabis

Gobabis: A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a woman at Gobabis on Saturday. A weekend crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Monday said the lifeless body of the woman, 28-year-old Mojelaruri Kadijah Deodene, was discovered around 08h00 by her boyfriend in the Kanaan C location.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the boyfriend informed neighbors that he had gone to town to withdraw money and found his girlfriend dead upon his return. Preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased had fresh strangulation marks on her neck. An inquest docket has been opened at the Gobabis Police Station in connection with the incident, and a 20-year-old male suspect has been arrested. The woman's next of kin have been informed.

Meanwhile, the police also reported a separate incident where a 32-year-old man was stabbed to death at Rehoboth in the Hardap Region. The deceased, identified as Beraudt Resandt, was stabbed in the chest between midnight and 01h00 in Rehoboth's Block C on Sunday. The crime report noted that the deceased and the suspect had a braai with family at the deceased's house in Block F when an argument erupted. The suspect was assaulted and returned to his house in Block C, where Resandt followed him. Their continued argument led to the stabbing.

The murder weapon has not yet been recovered. The deceased's next of kin have been informed, and police investigations are ongoing.
