Otamanzi: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Omusati Region has confirmed the death of a 28-year-old man in a donkey cart accident at Otamanzi village on Sunday. Omusati Regional Commander Ismael Basson reported that the tragic incident took place around 08h00 when the donkey cart, driven by the deceased, hit a tree stump and overturned.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the impact of the accident resulted in both the driver and his passenger being thrown out of the cart. The cart subsequently fell on them, leading to the instant death of the driver, identified as Wilbard Raphael Shithigona, a Namibian national. The passenger sustained slight injuries in the accident and received medical attention.

Authorities have informed the next of kin about Shithigona's death. The incident highlights the potential dangers associated with rural transportation methods, prompting calls for increased safety measures.
