Otjiwarongo: About 1,000 Mandrax tablets were on Tuesday allegedly found inside a goods delivery truck on the Otjiwarongo-Outjo road. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in a media statement on Wednesday said the 999 tablets have an estimated street value of about N.dollars 120,000.According to Namibia Press Agency, three large parcels of cannabis were also discovered in the same truck, and are estimated at N.dollars 139,100, bringing the total value of the drugs to N.dollars 259,100. A 35-year-old male resident of Outjo's Kap en Bou informal area was arrested in connection with the transportation of the prohibited drugs.'He is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate's Court this week once he is formally charged,' said the police officer. The suspect is facing charges of possession and/or dealing in both Mandrax and cannabis, said Mbeha. Police investigations into the matter continue.
