Hochfeld: The lifeless body of a 23-year-old man, a resident of Uitkoms Government Resettlement Farm in the Hochfeld area, was found on Sunday morning hanging from a tree in the bushes behind the farm’s main homestead.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, reported on Monday that the deceased was identified the same day by close relatives as Steven Tete Kuara. Mbeha explained that Kuara is suspected to have committed suicide between Saturday night and Sunday morning, as his body was found on Sunday at 09:00 with a rope still tied around his neck to the tree.

It is alleged that Kuara walked out of the house on his own into the bushes on Saturday night, and his family members believed he would return home. Upon waking up on Sunday morning, his family noticed that Kuara had not returned and decided to follow his footprints, eventually finding his body hanging from a tree at about 09:00.

Members of the Hochfeld Police Station were called to the scene to remove the body, as stated by Mbeha. Kuara did not leave behind a suicide note, and no foul play is suspected in connection with his death. An inquest docket was opened on Sunday afternoon at the Hochfeld Police Station, and police investigations into the matter continue.
