Mariental: Miss Namibia 2025, Johanna Swartbooi, received a warm welcome from the Hardap regional leadership and the Mariental community during a homecoming ceremony held on Thursday. The event celebrated southern pride and honoured Swartbooi, who hails from Vaalgras, as an icon of the south. Members of the community lined the streets of Mariental, eager to catch a glimpse of Miss Namibia during a ceremonial drive through the town.

According to Namibia Press Agency, dignitaries in attendance during the event included Hardap Region Governor Riaan McNab, Hardap Regional Council Chairperson Gershon Dausab, and Mariental Mayor Cherien Kock. During her visit, Swartbooi met with Governor McNab, who lauded her as a 'jewel' and a resilient 'daughter of the southern soil.'

McNab praised her resilience, integrity, and discipline, stating, 'We are blessed that God has given us a jewel and a daughter from the soil who does not give up. We are happy you are home in the south, and we, as regional leadership, will support your journey every step of the way. You made us proud by putting us on the map; you made us proud with your character, standards, integrity, and discipline. This is your season, so enjoy it.'

Swartbooi expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from the regional leadership and the Mariental community. She urged young people to relentlessly pursue their dreams. 'Only when you take action are your dreams valid. Hardap Region saw I pursued a dream, and I was stubborn about it and supported me through it, and for that, I am grateful. I am looking forward to all the projects and development that will come to the south, east, west, and the north, everywhere, because we are here for diversity, we are here to grow and unite,' Swartbooi said.

Umbi Karuaihe-Upi, CEO of the Miss Namibia organisation, also voiced her appreciation for the warm reception. 'We are very happy to be here in Mariental. Miss Namibia is for the whole country, and we are here for diversity, for unity, and now it's the time for the south,' Karuaihe-Upi stated. Swartbooi was crowned Miss Namibia 2025 on 19 July.
