The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) has embarked on an online national tour guide survey to assess the available capacity of trained tour guides in Namibia, post-Covid-19.

The ministry’s Executive Director (ED), Teofilus Nghitila in a media statement on Monday said the objective of the survey is to achieve the intentions under the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10 which aims to create decent work opportunities for tour guides in Namibia and to reduce inequalities in the subsector.

The expected outcome of the project, which commenced on 01 February is to create an accreditation and registration framework for tourist guides in Namibia, he said.

The survey is coordinated by the Directorate of Tourism and Gaming and is conducted with the input and support of the sector, Nghitila added.

It ends on 25 February.
