Mexico city: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Friday condemned recent U.S. immigration raids targeting migrant workers in farm fields, stating that these actions are unjust and could harm the U.S. economy. "These raids are deeply unfair and will severely damage the U.S. economy," Sheinbaum declared during her daily press conference.

According to Namibia Press Agency, President Sheinbaum highlighted the significant contributions of Mexican nationals and other Latino migrants to the U.S. economy. She cautioned that without this labor force, agricultural states like California would face unharvested fields, which could lead to economic repercussions.

In response to the raids in California, Sheinbaum mentioned that staff from Mexican consulates are actively visiting detention centers to assess how many Mexicans may have been detained. She also announced that Mexico will increase funding for its consulates in the United States to bolster legal support for detained nationals. Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of providing legal assistance, stating, "Our brothers and sisters over there need legal assistance, and we're going to ensure they get it."

The raids, conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Thursday, targeted two farms in southern California.
