MultiChoice Namibia (MCN) has announced that it will support the tourism industry by producing short documentary-style videos in and around the Sperrgebiet area.

The announcement was made on Sunday at the Hospitality Association of Namibia’s (HAN) 2022 Tourism Congress in Lüderitz in the ||Kharas Region.

According to MCN Managing Director, Roger Gertze, in a media statement on Tuesday, with the toll that COVID-19 has taken on the country’s tourism industry, MCN has taken the initiative to use the power of storytelling to further promote Namibia as a prime tourist destination.

“Our DStv business team and HAN have identified an opportunity to form a smart partnership that will advance both our industries and benefit all stakeholders. These videos will help us enhance our role as a responsible and sustainable corporate citizen because we are using local, Namibian production teams to capture the essence of the Sperrgebiet area – in collaboration with HAN and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT),” he said.

MEFT Executive Director, Teofilus Nghitila was quoted as saying that Namibia is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in southern Africa because of its history, and that unlocking new horizons in this sector would allow for economic growth and opportunities to Namibian people of all walks of life.
