Windhoek: The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) recorded several robbery incidents in Windhoek over the weekend.
According to Namibia Press Agency, one of the incidents occurred in Klein Windhoek, where five suspects were found with a suspected stolen concrete mixer valued at N.dollars 45,000. The police, who were on patrol, spotted the suspects. Three male suspects managed to flee, but two were arrested, and the item was recovered.
In another incident at the same location around midday, unknown suspects reportedly broke into a complainant's vehicle using an unknown object and stole a toolbox valued at N.dollars 18,800. No arrests or recoveries have been made, and the police investigation continues.
On Saturday morning in the Cimbebasia area, a couple walking their dogs encountered three armed unknown male suspects who attempted to rob them. One of the victims allegedly fired shots, hitting one suspect, who died on the spot. The deceased's next of kin have been informed, but no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident in Windhoek's Otjomuise residential area, Moepie Stephanie collapsed and died immediately after complaining of feeling unwell. Her next of kin were informed of her death.
Another robbery incident was reported at the Wernhill shopping centre in Windhoek, where four armed suspects allegedly attacked a private security vehicle with four guards. The suspects fired shots as the guards were about to deposit cash at ATMs, taking a shotgun and cash before fleeing in a charcoal grey sedan. No arrests or recoveries have been made, and police investigations are continuing.
