Myanmar Fire Accidents Claim 68 Lives, Injure 116 in First 10 Months of 2025

Yangon: Sixty-eight people were killed and 116 were injured in fire accidents in Myanmar during the first 10 months of 2025, according to the country's fire services department on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Myanmar Fire Services Department reported a total of 850 fire accidents from January to October this year. These incidents resulted in damage to 2,644 houses, 13 factories, and 38 warehouses, as stated by U Thein Tun Oo, director of the department.

The Yangon region witnessed the highest number of fire accidents with 180 cases, followed by the Mandalay region with 132 cases and Shan state with 101 cases.

The number of fire accidents recorded this year has decreased compared to 1,017 accidents reported in the same period last year. U Thein Tun Oo noted that most fire outbreaks were caused by negligence and faulty electrical wiring.
