Windhoek:Namibia's Under-20 men's football team, the 'Young Warriors', secured their spot in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) qualifier with a commanding 3-0 victory over Seychelles on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the Young Warriors topped Group A with nine points, scoring five goals and conceding none throughout their three matches. They had already asserted their dominance in the group with consecutive 1-0 wins against Mauritius and Mozambique, making even a draw against Seychelles sufficient for progression to the knockout stage.

Despite this, Namibia continued their strong form with Rashid Naobeb scoring in the 15th minute to give them a 1-0 lead at halftime. Mateus Ashitenda extended the lead in the 62nd minute, and Lukas Sakeus completed the victory 12 minutes from the end, maintaining Namibia's perfect record and securing a third consecutive clean sheet.

Mozambique, as hosts, finished second in the group with six points and advanced to the semi-finals as the best-ranked runner-up. Seychelles ended third with three points, while Mauritius concluded their campaign without earning a point.

The tournament, featuring 12 teams, will run until 27 September 2026. The three group winners and the best runner-up progress to the semi-finals, with the two finalists qualifying for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana in 2027.
