Windhoek: The NamPost board of directors announced on Friday the appointment of Willem Mouton as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 01 August 2026, for a five-year term.

According to Namibia Press Agency, NamPost board chairperson Dr. Simeon Amunkete emphasized Mouton's extensive experience, proven leadership, and deep understanding of the organisation's operations, which position him well to lead the State-owned postal operator through its next phase of growth and transformation. Amunkete stated that Mouton's executive experience and knowledge of NamPost's operations make him exceptionally well-suited for the role.

The statement highlighted Mouton's current role as NamPost's Chief Operating Officer, and his previous senior leadership positions in operations, business development, and corporate management. Before joining NamPost, Mouton served as Chief Executive Officer for the United Africa Group and held the position of Head of Business Development at Nampro Fund.

The board expressed that Mouton is expected to provide strategic leadership as NamPost continues to strengthen its position as Namibia's national postal operator while advancing innovation, growth, and long-term sustainability.

Mouton will succeed Eldorette Harmse, Executive: Legal Services, Governance and Compliance, who has been serving as Acting Chief Executive Officer since 01 September 2025 following the retirement of former CEO Festus Hangula.

The statement further noted Mouton's educational background, which includes an MBA in Organisational Leadership from the University of Roehampton in the United Kingdom, and an MBA in Business/Commerce from the University of Stellenbosch.

The board also expressed its appreciation to Harmse for her leadership during the transition period, acknowledging that her stewardship ensured organisational stability and continuity.
