NamPower Foundation Boosts Educational Resources with Calculator Donation to Windhoek School

Windhoek: The Namibia Power Corporation (NamPower) Foundation on Wednesday distributed over 700 scientific calculators to Westmont High School. This initiative was in response to a viral social media campaign led by Victoria Shipanga, a dedicated teacher at the school, who highlighted the lack of calculators among students.According to Namibia Press Agency, the school's principal, Musiwa Mowa, expressed his gratitude for the generous contribution, emphasizing that quality education is contingent upon not just dedicated teachers and diligent students, but also access to essential learning tools. Mowa noted that the calculators will significantly aid students in subjects such as mathematics and accounting that require numerical competency.Otilie Mujoro, the head of the NamPower Foundation, underscored that the handover signifies more than just a donation, calling it an investment in the students' education, confidence, and potential future success. She urged the students to make the most of this opportunity and to maintain the calculators in good condition while striving for academic excellence.Meriam Ndemuweda, Senior Education Officer for mathematics in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, also attended the event. She commended NamPower for demonstrating a genuine partnership in education and pointed out that collaborations between the government and private sector are crucial in overcoming resource limitations and enhancing educational results.The donation, benefiting a school with over 970 learners, is valued at approximately N.dollars 260,000.
