Omusati: Omusati Regional Council Chairperson Daniel Iilende has urged children to embrace education as the foundation of their success. Speaking at Eendombe Primary School in the Ogongo Constituency during the commemoration of the Day of the African Child, Iilende said education remains the most effective weapon against poverty and the key to building a prosperous Namibia.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Iilende emphasized that education should be prioritized above all else, describing it as the key that opens doors to opportunities and choices, allowing individuals to shape their own destinies. He reminded the learners that every lesson attended and every book opened is an investment in both themselves and the nation. He encouraged children to study hard, remain curious, and seek help whenever they face challenges.

Iilende further stressed that the government has a responsibility to provide quality education through adequate schools, classrooms, books, teachers, and principals, saying such investments are necessary to ensure that children's dreams become a reality. He highlighted the importance of schools and educational institutions in producing professionals like teachers, doctors, engineers, pastors, and architects.

Reflecting on this year's Day of the African Child theme, which focuses on universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene, he emphasized that every African child deserves clean water, proper sanitation facilities, healthcare, and a safe learning environment. He identified poverty as one of the greatest challenges faced by African children but encouraged learners not to let difficult circumstances define their future.

Iilende donated desks and chairs worth N.dollars 32,000 to the school, stating that everyone has a role to play in supporting communities. School principal Taimi Iidhini expressed her gratitude to Iilende for the donation and his commitment to improving the lives of Namibian children.
