Nandi Ndaitwah Pays Tribute to Pohamba on 90th Birthday

Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has paid tribute to former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, who turned 90 on Monday, describing him as a 'humble revolutionary and inspirational leader whose legacy continues to guide Namibia.'

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nandi-Ndaitwah, in her congratulatory message shared by the Presidency, emphasized Pohamba's significant contributions to Namibia's liberation struggle and his impactful service during and after his presidency. She highlighted that Pohamba's heroic efforts in the pursuit of liberation have left an indelible mark on the country's democracy, inspiring all Namibians through his revolutionary path.

Nandi-Ndaitwah further acknowledged Pohamba's efforts in strengthening institutions and promoting unity during his presidency. She noted his role in consolidating peace and stability, expressing gratitude for his wisdom, humility, and foresight, which continue to guide Namibia on its path. She joined the Namibian people in wishing Pohamba good health and continued wisdom as he celebrates this remarkable milestone.

Pohamba served as Namibia's second president from 2005 to 2015, succeeding Founding President Sam Nujoma. His leadership was recognized internationally when he received the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership in 2015, honoring his role in promoting democracy and good governance.
