Nandi Ndaitwah Receives Letters of Credence from Six Heads of Mission

Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Thursday received letters of Credence and Commission from six Heads of Mission-Designate in Windhoek. These dignitaries represent the Federative Republic of Brazil, Dominican Republic, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Chad, and the Kingdom of Sweden, accompanied by their ambassadors.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed the Heads of Mission-Designate and highlighted the cooperation among the countries. She expressed a desire for a long-standing relationship, recalling the historical ties that date back to Namibia's struggle for independence. Notably, Ambassador Erika Alvarez Rodriquez from the Dominican Republic presented a letter of credence for the first time, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Namibia and the Dominican Republic. "Being the first ambassador, we are grateful to our country for presenting the Dominican Republic and we are looking forward to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries," she stated.

Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, remarked on the historic relationships between Namibia and the five other countries that presented their letters of credence. She noted that the purpose of the ceremony was to renew these relationships and to infuse economic content into bilateral relations in line with Namibia's national priorities.

The minister expressed optimism about the discussions with the various countries, which covered a range of issues, including Namibia's vision for the next five years. "So we are very optimistic because we discussed a lot of issues ranging from the inlaid blast, but also terms of where do we see ourselves as a country in the next five years," she added.
