Windhoek: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Monday launched three national task forces to address pressing issues related to health, housing, land, and economic recovery. Members were also appointed to serve on the committees.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the president, speaking at State House during the launch, stated that the eighth administration is demonstrating its approach as 'business unusual' due to the challenges Namibia faces, which demand nothing less. She emphasized that the initiative is not about criticizing previous administrations but about building on their foundations, drawing lessons from the past, and improving on what can be done better today.
Under the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted that the country has a clear roadmap, and these task forces are tools to accelerate its implementation. She reminded the newly appointed members of the importance of working together with mutual respect and open minds, recognizing that solutions will come from collective effort.
According to the president, the task force on economic recovery aims to unlock growth, strengthen investment, support innovation, and expand opportunities for the youth. Meanwhile, the task force on health is set to assist in building a stronger, more responsive health system for all Namibians. The housing and land task force will tackle the pressing social obligation of ensuring access to dignified housing and serviced land for families nationwide.
Nandi-Ndaitwah urged Namibians to support the task forces and acknowledged the appointed members for their commitment to voluntary services aimed at improving the socioeconomic conditions and livelihoods of Namibian citizens. A total of 54 members, including former executives, doctors, economists, and scholars, have been appointed to serve on all three task forces.
