Kamanjab:Namibia's First Gentleman, Lieutenant General (Retired) Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, has urged the Kamanjab community to collectively support children in their development. He emphasized the importance of guidance, discipline, and community involvement, particularly focusing on boys to reject violence, drug abuse, and indiscipline.
According to NAMPA, Ndaitwah addressed the community at the Kamanjab Community Hall, highlighting the theme 'The Plight of the Boy Child'. He stressed that it takes a village to raise a child and called on Kamanjab to fulfill this role by taking collective responsibility for the youth's wellbeing and future.
Ndaitwah advised boys that true strength is demonstrated through responsible decision-making and not through violence or substance abuse. He also emphasized the critical role of education, warning that future generations would face greater challenges if they lacked the necessary knowledge and skills.
Ndaitwah encouraged learners to pursue their career aspirations, stating that future professionals such as doctors, pilots, and engineers could come from Kamanjab. He noted that while he initially aimed to inspire the learners, he was instead motivated by their clear career goals.
The engagement was attended by learners and teachers from D.F. Uirab Primary School and Kamanjab Combined School, along with notable figures such as Kunene Governor Vipuakuje Muharukua and other local leaders. This event is part of Ndaitwah's broader regional outreach efforts, with further engagements planned in Khorixas and Outjo.
