Katima Mulilo:The Northeast First Division (NEFD) League is set for an explosive start on Saturday with local rivals Bush Bucks FC and Black Hawks FC clashing in the highly anticipated Katima Derby at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the fixture is a high-stakes battle for local supremacy, bragging rights, and crucial early-season momentum. Both Zambezi Region teams aim to establish dominance from the first whistle, promising a fiercely contested encounter for football enthusiasts.
Bush Bucks, affectionately known as "Wangurungu," have issued a passionate rallying cry to their supporters. Head coach Budstyn Mutau has called on fans from across the region to fill the stadium, hoping a sea of blue and white will create an intimidating atmosphere to help push the team to victory. However, Mutau noted that most of his players are high school learners and tertiary students currently busy with final-year examinations, which has impacted their training schedule. The team is only expected to camp on Friday ahead of the derby.
Despite these challenges, Black Hawks are determined to spoil the party and claim the opening three points. Coach Hartley Nyungani stated that although they are partly ready, they will fight until the last whistle is blown. Like Bush Bucks, Black Hawks also face challenges with players' academic commitments.
The kickoff is scheduled for 16h00.
