Otjiwarongo: The two newly elected constituency councillors of Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein were sworn in on Thursday. Paulus Nekundi of the Otjiwarongo Constituency and Nelao Amagulu of the Grootfontein Constituency took their oaths before Magistrate Billy Lutaka at the Otjozondjupa Regional Council Chambers in Otjiwarongo.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the two councillors were elected in the by-elections held on 17 June 2025 in the Otjozondjupa Region. In addition to her new role, Amagulu was elected as a member of the management committee of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council on Thursday. She will be working alongside Ramana Mutjavikua of Okakarara on the committee.

Johannes Hausiku, the chairperson of the Otjozondjupa Regional Council, who also chairs the council's management committee, extended his congratulations to Amagulu and Nekundi on their induction into the regional council.

The event was attended by other constituency councillors, including Israel Hukura of Omatako, George Garab of Otavi, and Betuel Tjaveondja of Okahandja. The acting Chief Regional Officer of Otjozondjupa, Shikongo Alweendo, was also present to witness the ceremony.
