Zambezi: The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) on Friday donated a combined 880 chairs and desks valued at N.dollars 340,636 to the Zambezi Education Directorate. The furniture was donated via the governor's office and will be distributed to needy schools.According to Namibia Press Agency, NFCPT Chief Executive Officer Victor Pea emphasized the organization's commitment to education as part of its corporate social investment (CSI), with over 80% of its CSI funds directed towards this sector. Pea highlighted the belief in the transformational power of education and its capacity to provide significant returns on their investments. He assured that NFCPT is dedicated to supporting government efforts to enhance opportunities for Namibians, particularly school-going children.Pea acknowledged that while NFCPT's primary role is to promote fish consumption to enhance nutrition and health, the organization understands the interconnectedness of education and nutrition. He noted that well-nourished and supported learners are better positioned for academic success and can contribute effectively to national development.Pea also emphasized the importance of a well-furnished classroom environment, explaining that proper furniture allows learners to focus and participate confidently while enabling teachers to deliver lessons in a more organized setting.Zambezi Education Director, Alex Sikume, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, noting the increase in learner intake from over 47,000 in 2025 to over 49,000 this year. This rise has highlighted the need for additional resources and infrastructure.Zambezi Governor Dorothy Kabula-Simushi reiterated that the donation will be directed towards schools with urgent furniture needs and acknowledged the challenges faced by learners who currently bring chairs from home. She urged the recipients to maintain the donated furniture properly.
