Nghipondoka-Robiati Appointed as Namibia’s Ambassador to Switzerland

Windhoek:President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati as Namibia's ambassador to Switzerland and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva. Her commissioning ceremony took place at State House.

According to Namibia Press Agency, President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized that Nghipondoka-Robiati's role will involve advancing and safeguarding Namibia's national interests through both bilateral and multilateral engagements. The president highlighted the strong historical ties between Namibia and Switzerland, noting past collaborations such as the 1981 pre-implementation talks in Geneva and contributions to Namibia's transition to independence.

The president also pointed out existing frameworks like the SACU-EFTA agreement and the upcoming Zurich-Windhoek air service as avenues to enhance economic, tourism, and people-to-people connections between the two nations. She urged Nghipondoka-Robiati to build on these historical connections to further Namibia's development and prosperity.

Before her new appointment, Nghipondoka-Robiati was the executive director in the Ministry of International Relations and Trade. In her acceptance speech, she committed to enhancing economic cooperation and ensuring Namibia's voice is represented on the international stage, particularly in Geneva, where global policies on trade, health, and human rights are shaped. She pledged to focus on strengthening investment, trade, and fostering closer ties between the people of Namibia and Switzerland.
