Nkurenkuru: The 7th Nkurenkuru Expo gala dinner successfully raised N.dollars 600 500 on Saturday, significantly aiding the preparations for this year's event. Scheduled to run from 24 July to 02 August 2026, the expo will operate under the theme 'Empowering Economic Growth and Celebrating Heritage.'According to Namibia Press Agency, during the gala dinner, Robert Mahina Katura, the Nkurenkuru Town Council management committee chairperson, delivered remarks on behalf of the former president and patron of the Nkurenkuru Expo, Hifikepunye Pohamba. Katura emphasized that the funds would transform the expo into a practical platform for job creation and business opportunities rather than merely an annual social gathering.Katura elaborated on the significance of the theme, which aims to connect economic activity with cultural identity. He stated that economic growth involves more than just statistics and financial indicators; it is about creating opportunities for people, reducing poverty, empowering young entr epreneurs, supporting small businesses, and improving the quality of life for all citizens. He highlighted the importance of development that respects local traditions, portraying a nation that preserves its heritage while embracing innovation as one poised for future success.Kavango West Region Governor Verna Sinimbo expressed her gratitude for the support received from businesses, institutions, and individuals. She emphasized that every pledge towards the expo represents an investment in jobs and skills for the youth in the region. Sinimbo encouraged investors to consider the area's fertile land, natural resources, and strategic location as a foundation for long-term growth. She urged the youth to leverage the expo as a platform for learning, innovation, networking, and enterprise creation, rather than solely relying on formal employment.Both Katura and Sinimbo extended their thanks to the sponsors, appealing for continued support as the organizers strive to attract more exhibitors and establish lasting partnerships beyond the expo itself.
